Shubs Upadhyay

  • Hi, I'm Shubs Upadhyay, a primary care physician working in health tech for almost a decade. I spent several years with a leading health tech company, deeply involved in the full spectrum of product development, from concept to deployment. This experience has strengthened my commitment to medical quality, particularly in implementing AI solutions across diverse settings, including low- and middle-income countries and areas with limited resources.
  • My medical practice has also taken me to numerous rural locations worldwide, directly engaging with communities to improve their health outcomes. Additionally, as co-chair of the Clinical Evaluation Working Group of the ITU/WHO Focus Group on AI for Health, I've been actively involved in shaping the guidelines and frameworks that guide the global implementation of health technologies.
  • I'm convinced there's a huge amount to learn and discover from our colleagues and innovators working in LMICs and rural settings.
  • With the recent global shifts in funding, there is a great opportunity to rethink how we create locally sourced abd sustainably funded innovation implementation if we can shift our perspective. That's what this podcast aims to help with.
  • I also write on https://shubstack.substack.com, and often reflect on what people have shared with me on the podcast.
